Koh Samet is a national park of great natural beauty in the
Rayong province, not so far from Pattaya and Bangkok. The island is
located about seven kilometers from main land and the Samet beaches are
among the best in Thailand. The beaches on the northeast of the island
are beautiful and better developed. Koh Samet and the minuscule islands
nearby are surrounded by coral formations in shallow water which make
for enjoyable snorkeling. The most well-known beaches in Samet are Hat
Sai Kaew, Ao Phai, Ao Vong Duan, Ao Wai and Ao Kui Na Nok on the East
coast and Ao Prao on the West coast. Scuba divers may not find them very
interesting. Other water sports, including sailing, parasailing, skiing,
and fishing can be arranged at a number of resorts.
